A question is a question asking for a answer or answer. On a regular basis, you may inquire about questions. Some questions are open-ended asking for explanations, explanations, and others, while some are closed and require only either a "Yes" or "No. In some instances others ask questions that do not require a reply but only for someone to hear (rhetoric questions). Based on the form of the question, the answer which follows must answer what questions are asked. Many people fail in exams simply because they're not smart, but because they do not know what the question is asking to them. The inability to express the question properly leads to an incorrect action or response. After the presentation, you should feel satisfied when people question you. This could be a sign that they were engaged in this presentation and also that the presentation has arouse interest among others. How you answer those questions will boost your audience's opinion about you or improve their confidence when they purchase your product or service. As a professional, you'll have to master the art of asking pertinent questions but most importantly how to respond effectively.

Before you jump into answering questions, ensure you know in your mind about what the question is about. It is not a bad idea to start by trying to understand what's being asked. Try asking politely "I apologize, I'm unable to understand what you are asking Could you please clarify?" You'll communicate more effectively in this situation than just ranting about with no sense of clarity and understanding. Remember that the reason for answering questions is to contribute positively to the person seeking answers. Don't be a waste of time. Seek understanding first.

One technique that will increase your chances of responding to the question in a timely and objective way is to ensure that you give the person asking the question to finish asking. Many people will take the time to clearly define what they want to convey. A response to a question that is not given until it is answered fully could appear disrespectful. Do not presume that you know what direction the question is going hence you would like to assist the person to understand the question. If you're not pressed for time then let the individual "ramble" while you take note of the most important points. It gives you time to formulate and come up with one of the most suitable answers to the question. The ability of listening gives you a high rate of success in answering questions.

You need to decide if you are qualified to answer the issue or is someone else. Do you have the authority to speak about this subject (journalists can haunt you even if you're required to be the spokesperson of the company)? What should the response be? A few moments of silence demonstrate that you're not just making up whatever material is in your mind but a clearly thought out solution is coming. It is possible to make sure that the person you are expecting to hear an answer by asking "Let me think about it ..., let me think." ..". So that the person does take a break from thinking you've missed something but you're actually ignoring etc. It also allows you to come up with statements that you won't regret about later. You can determine the best method of answering with wisdom without leaving the person with scratches or fresh wounds.
