The word "question" refers to a statement which seeks a response or an answer. Everyday, it is possible to have questions. Some questions are open ended which require explanation, explanation and so on while other questions are closed and require only one answer: Yes or No. In other instances, they ask questions that do not necessarily need a response, but are simply for someone to hear (rhetoric types of questions). According to the structure of the question, the answer that follows should address what the question is looking for. There are many students who fail exams not because they're boring but rather because they fail understand what is being asked to them. Unable to formulate the question properly can result in an uninformed action or response. After an excellent presentation, be pleased when people ask you questions. It could mean that the audience was engaged during the presentation , and that the presentation was arousing for others. The way you respond to those questions will boost your audience's opinion of you as well as increase their confidence in your company's product or service. As a professional, you'll be required to master ways to pose relevant questions , and most importantly, you must know how to effectively answer questions.

Before you start answering to a question make sure you have a clear mind what the question is. It is not a bad idea to start by finding out the reason for the question being asked. Be polite and ask "I apologize, but I'm struggling to be able to comprehend what you're asking Would you mind changing the way you phrase it?" You'll be more effective at this point than you can simply talk about the topic with little sense of clarity and understanding. The purpose behind answering questions is to make a positive contribution to the person in search of an answer. Don't take time. Seek understanding first.

One method that can increase the likelihood of you answering any question in an appropriate and objective manner is if you allow the person who asked the question enough time to finish asking. Certain people prefer in describing precisely what are seeking. When you respond to a question without knowing what is completely asked could be to be disrespectful. Don't presume you know where the person is asking you, hence you wish to help the person find the answer. If you're in a hurry take the time to let the person "ramble" while taking notes of important aspects. It gives you time to synthesize and think of one of the most suitable answers to the question. Being able to listen can give an excellent chance to succeed in answering the questions.

It is your responsibility to determine whether you're qualified to answer the question , or if someone else is. Have you been authorized by the company to talk on that subject (journalists could be a source of trouble even if you're suppose to be the spokesperson of the company)? How long should your answer be? It is important to take a break and indicate that you aren't just churning out any raw content you have in your mind but a clearly reasoned out answer is on its way. It is possible to prepare your audience member for an answer by telling them "Let me think about it ..., let me think." ..". That way the person does not sit around thinking they haven't heard or you're just not listening,, etc. Thinking about the situation also allows you in coming up with suggestions that you'll never regret over later. You can assess the best method of answering with wisdom without leaving bruises or fresh wounds.
