You'll be able to express yourself better in this situation than speaking in the same voice with no awareness or wisdom. Remember that the primary goal of answering questions is in a positive way to the one who is seeking answers. Do not waste your time. Seek understanding first.

One way that can enhance the likelihood of you answering your question in a sensible and objective way is to ensure that you give the person asking your question time to complete asking. Many people will take the time to define exactly what they want to know. When you respond to a question without knowing what is fully asked may seem an act of disrespect. Do not presume that you are aware of where the question is headed and should assist the person reach the goal. If you have time give the person time to "ramble" while you take note of key things. It gives you time to synthesize and think of what is the best way to answer the question. The ability to hear gives you a high percentage of success in your responses to questions.

A few moments of silence let you know that you're not just churning up any material that you have in the mind but a clearly thought through answer is coming. You can actually make sure that the person you are expecting to hear an answer by saying "Let me think about it ..., Let me think." ..". This way the person is not sit there and think you've not heard or you're just not listening, etc. Thinking through also helps you to make statements that you'll be happy on later. You will be able to determine the best method to reply with wisdom without leaving wounded or new wounds.
