Do not presume that you know in which direction the query is heading and thus you want to help the person to get to the point. If you're in a hurry you can let the person "ramble" while taking notes of important elements. It gives you the time to organize and think of which answer is best to the question. The ability to listen gives you an impressive success rate in answering questions.
